Makeup No No's Part 1
I love skincare. It is the foundation but I just adore makeup. Our makeup is amazing too. I get so pumped when I think about how BeautiControl has done all of the makeup for all of the Style 360 shows at New York Fashion Week. We did that for years. It is also very humbling when I think about my personal Beauti Squad who has brought the BeautiControl makeup line to Beverly Hills at the Oscars gifting suite, the Prime time Emmy's, and the Terrence Howard Rally for Kids with Cancer fundraiser. Makeup does NOT take the place of healthy skin but isn't it just delicious! I am so amazed at this art form. It truly is an art form. I know that I am a bit biased but I think that my Beauti Squad is a collective group of the most talented makeup artists in the world. Being an artist is like a relationship that never gets dull. The girls just keep me so stimulated by their work! They each bring their own flare and style to a face. It's just brilliant. I need to calm down because I can get so excited about this but tonight I want to talk about some makeup NO NO's.
1. The Mask
The mask is when I can see that line along your jaw line. There are times when its orange. It is simply the wrong color foundation or a complete failure to blend. I also see the mask when you do not blend all the way to the hairline.
2. Matching foundation to the marks on the face
Some people look trio-toned. Their face is one color. The neck and body is another color and if they have on sandals, the feet are a different tone as well. I believe you should seek to repair the skin. Makeup should match you, not your scars.
3. Completely Shaving off your eyebrows or pretending that you don't have a serious uni-brow
Eyebrows really do enhance your face. Sometimes we even find that some women tweeze the brows so much that they stop growing. You can use a nice brow kit or a soft brow pencil to fill in brows. If you need help with this I can get someone to help you no matter where you live.
4. Applying eye shadow in all the wrong places
With no exaggeration, I've seen a lady who drew her brows all the way to her cheek bones and followed the shadow all the way to the cheek bone. Now, I'm sure you believe that I am making this up or trying to make some of you laugh but its true. Apply eyeshadow to your lid. Very simple.
5. Black lip liner
Yes, women still do this. Its a no no. Black liner is for the eyes at night.
6. Lip liner beyond the lips
This is an easy solution. We make a product to help plump your pout. Use your lip liner on your lip line (not your chin), and use the product.
7. Leaving blush right on the apples of the cheeks
Take a bigger blush brush and start at the apples but blend all the way to the hairline and ears. The Raggedy Ann look is not a good look.
This is part 1 of the Makeup No No's. Stay tuned for more! If you need a makeup consultation, let me know. The beauty of what we do is that our clients don't just get a wonderful product, they get us!
