1. Understand the 6 categories of nutrients (carbohydrates, fat, protein, vitamins, minerals, and water) and why you need them. If you understand more about what you are eating, I think you will make healthier choices.
2. Control your calories and quit pretending that you don't see the serving sizes on the back of the food label.
3. Learn to read the food label. If you want a one on one session about this I would love to help you. I may do a webinar about it.
4. Limit your sugar intake. Period.
5. Think about the specific times that you eat. Do you grab a snack when your favorite show is on? Do you eat when you are upset? If you are trying to lose weight, keep a log of your eating habits. You may find some behaviors that you can change that will limit your caloric intake.
6. Understand energy balance. I often hear so many people complain about not losing weight but the energy equation is off. This is why so many people gain weight or just stay the same.
Calories that you take in-Calories that you burn off=Change in fat.
7. Fasting to lose weight can throw your body into crisis. This is going to be an entire blog in itself. When no food or too little carbohydrate is eaten, the body uses up its glycogen and then breaks down its own protein tissues to supply the brain with glucose. Then the body slows its rate of energy use. Fasting is not a healthy way to lose weight.
8. Pass on the fries when dining out. (Talking to self with this one) Most restaurants offer salad or fruit as an alternative.
9. Stop eating when you feel satisfied. We tend to overeat and over-stuff our stomach. Lets blame this one on our parents who made us clean our plates.
10. Drink water. Real water. Yes I know a cola is made with water but it does not take the place.
11. Get the new BC Spa Solutions Sculpt and Firm Body Contouring Moisturizer. Okay okay, I know its not dietary but you know I love BeautiControl so much and with all this healthy eating you will need it. Look at the top, click on purchase products and click what's new. It will tell you all about it!

AMEN!!!! Thank you! Here's a good equation I was told to use if you want to really control the sugar carb intake... take the Carb grams - the total protein grams and then - the fiber grams = net carbs. If it nets to very much higher than 10, it should be eaten sparingly or only once in awhile. If it is less than 10 you can have it every day if you like. Again - watching total calories. <3
