Unbothered
My alarm clock went off at 7:45 a.m.. It was prayer time. My mind was focused and I asked the Lord to lead the way. I woke up ready to hit the ground running. My task list was written out, the laptop packed and a fresh cup of coffee was in my hand (you know I love my Joe). Then a brilliant idea to market my business in my community came to mind out of no where! I love the way my brain works when I'm focused. I jumped on my team Facebook page to share to the news. They loved the idea too. I go to the office at around 9:00 a.m. and waited for my first appointment. We got some things done too and I enjoyed our time. I spent the day executing my new marketing plan, making contacts for my event, and talking to my clients! I made some sales and some massive progress with sponsors for our April event Foundation Fundamentals. Sounds like a productive day right? Well, it truly was. I have to give thanks. Have you ever had those days? I mean you are in a zone! Its like busting open your shirt to reveal your inner Super hero. I love those days. Then....the phone rings. The energy is bad and the person on the other end is bringing you the blues. Well that's what happened to me today. A ball of emotions over took me. I was pissed off. I mean I was *#@!$! (excuse my french to my Rated G readers). I felt things that I hadn't felt in years! GRRRRRRRR. My anger triggers were set off and I did....NOTHING. Let me tell you why. I am learning to be Unbothered. So everyone who would have cursed on the phone to the person with the negative energy, let me help you deal with your anger triggers. Grab some paper!
Here is what I want you learn.
- understand that anger is a normal human feeling
- recognize the difference between angry feelings and angry behavior.
- identify what triggers your anger.
- become familiar with their physical anger warning signs.
- identify their characteristic ways of expressing anger.
- consider the consequences of angry behavior.
- develop constructive and effective ways of expressing and handling their anger.
- respond effectively to someone else’s anger
First you must figure out what makes you angry. I want you to really think about this. You can't just say, easy Yahrasiel, stupid people. No. I want you to think about it. What are those situations, words, and actions that set you off? What pushes your buttons? I know for myself that when I'm frustrated embarrassed, or lied to, I get angry. It's actually okay to feel angry. Feelings are not the same as actions, but feelings often lead to actions. Although you can’t control how you feel, you can learn to control how you act. When you get angry, your body will react and these are called anger cues. Do your palms get sweaty? Does your face blush? Do you ball up your fists? I want you to become aware of what you do when you feel angry. I personally clench my teeth. What do you do? It’s important to calm yourself down when you get mad. Otherwise, you might say or do something that you know you will regret. Just because it true, doesn't mean that it needs to be said. Remember the power of your words. They give LIFE and they give DEATH. Let's not get into physical harm. That is not acceptable on any level (unless they steal your BeautiControl, do harm! Just kidding, kind of.) So how do you cool down? Once you realize how you feel and what your body is doing, its time to make a decision to regroup and refocus. Its just not worth it to make a decision when you are angry. Learn to talk it out and tell people how YOU feel. Sometimes anger gives you energy to make things better. Have you ever put anger to good use? I want you to OWN your anger. Take time to get your mind right, practice breathing, and make good decisions. Start being 100% honest with yourself.
Learn to give negativity, naysayers and annoyances the boot. Evict them. Its time to recognize and understand you and channel the negative energy where it belongs, behind you! There is nothing more refreshing than positive thoughts and peace of mind. So what do you need to get rid of? And for some of you, WHO do you need to get rid of?
Let's say it together, to the left, to the left! Everything and anything that is not good for your emotions TODAY, needs to be LEFT.
